On the occasion of the 25th of November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Ladies’ Union of Drama – H.O.H. implements a series of actions to raise awareness and mobilize the general population in the framework of the established event “VIA DRAMA”.
The aim of the action is to eliminate violence against women. To this end, the organisation will carry out the following actions:
The creation of a spot (https://youtu.be/okwAPZtTf6k) to inform and raise public awareness about violence against women. The spot is also aimed at women who may be experiencing abuse, in order to empower them and help them to recognise the signs of violence and seek support. An exhibition of photographs of abused women at the organisation’s offices (on Venizelou Street). The exhibition captures the brutality and consequences of gender-based violence, offering a shocking reality experienced by many women. A protest wall will be placed next to the photo exhibition, where visitors will be able to find a wall on which they can leave their own message of support and sympathy for the victims of women’s abuse. We will be posting the names of murdered women for 2024 to honour their memory and remind the ongoing fight against violence.
The first floor of the House of Open Hospitality will be open to the public. For a whole week 25-30 November and by appointment, the first floor of the House will be open to schools. The aim is to debunk the House as something impersonal and out of tune with people’s everyday lives. Finally, on 25 November, the House will be illuminated in the orange colour established by the UN to symbolise the fight against the abuse of women.
