The glorious ceremony took place on Tuesday 22 October 2024 at the Ioannis Despotopoulos amphitheatre of the Athens Conservatory. The 15 million euro Active citizens fund programme was managed by the Bodossaki Foundation and Solidarity Now from 2019 to date. During this period, hundreds of projects have been approved and implemented throughout Greece. The Ladies’ Union of Drama-Η.Ο.Η. ran two projects, namely a large “Mobile School Travels” with a duration of four years and a medium “TIME TO TALK” with a duration of sixteen months. For the closing ceremony, the grant managers selected six high-impact projects from all over Greece to produce a documentary. One of the six projects was “Mobile School Travels”. The documentary was screened at the Closing Ceremony under the title “Time for Change”, receiving the warmest applause. At the same time, the results of the project and some good practices that were implemented were presented, while the Ambassador of Norway to Greece Lajla Brandt Jakhelln presented the timetable for the new funding period of the European Economic Area. As part of the event and at the entrance of the Conservatory there was a wall of remembrance where the institution placed photos of the two projects it has implemented.
The project “The Mobile School Travels” was implemented in the framework of the Active citizensfund programme, with the Association of Ladies of Drama – Η.Ο.Η. The Active citizens fund programme, amounting to € 15 million, was funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants. The programme aimed to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of civil society and to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, enhancing citizens’ participation in the community and defending human rights.
