It’s time to talk”.

The new graffiti that was created in the city of Drama aims at informing as many people as possible to take a stand, to raise their voice for a safer, more decent and equal life.

In the context of the “Time to Talk” project, a graffiti referring to gender-based violence was designed and created at a central spot of the city. The artist, Mr. Giorgos Kolovos, along with the project team got the inspiration for this idea. Using a door and a ladder as metaphors, they symbolize the path taken by both the person who suffers violence and the person who exercises it towards catharsis. With the motto: “Your person. A-dikos” we aim at sharing light in the violence encountered in the more intimate relationships, in the family, at school, at the office etc. Through this graffiti, we call each and every one of you to take part in this fight by changing everyday habits and prejudice that perpetuate stereotypical and patriarchal perceptions.

Along with the publicity actions of the project, the Helpline (+30) 25210 58888 operates every day, Monday – Friday from 08.30 – 15.00. All people who are experiencing or witness some violent behavior or people who exercise violence and are looking for help can turn to this Helpline. Calls are handled by specially trained staff of the project.

“Time to Talk” is implemented in the context of the Active citizens fund program, with Drama Ladies Union-House of Open Hospitality as implementation body. The €13.5 million Active Citizens Fund program is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) financial mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021, known as EEA Grants.
